10. The black holesAfter having been considered a SCI-FI concept for many decades, scientists all believe today in the existence of black holes. These are, according to definition, regions in space from which not even light escapes. A black hole is supposed to absorb all the light that hits the horizon, reflecting nothing. Apparently, they form when heavy stars collapse in a supernova at the end of their life cycle. After being form, a black hole will continue to grow by absorbing matter from its surroundings. Also, scientists believe that black holes exist at the center of most galaxies. Moreover, our own Milky Way is believed to shelter a huge 4 million solar masses (the standard unit of mass in astronomy) black hole. Once one of the mysteries of the universe, black holes are now generally agreed upon and an universal recognition of the phenomenon occurred in the past years. However, for most of us ignorants,it remains nothing but a strange, interesting phenomenon.

I was just inspired to make an entry because I just found out that my idol Gretchen Ho of Ateneo Lady Eagles in the new team captain of the Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Team in this on-going 2012 Shakey’s V-League Season 9 – Conference 1, a pre-season tournament.

I was actually surprised that she’s the new team captain ‘cause I thought it was Dzi Gervacio. (I was hoping though that it was Gretchen, even if in the V-League alone. And it did.) So to my surprised, and as a frustrated die-hard fan of Gretchen, I did an entry regarding V-League and her leadership; and she deserves.

I am a hopeless romantic, I believe in true love, in destiny, in soul mates, and in happy endings. I could say that I’m somewhat an expert in things concerning love, but even though I am a know-it-all, I can honestly say I’m still unlucky. I have been in and out of relationships many times. I’ve had my fair share of tears and heartbreak. After my seventh attempt in finding my perfect love story, I guess it opened my eyes that: Love and I just don’t mix!

I guess fate played a cruel joke on me, I did find my happiness with you, but I am losing the battle against sickness. I am suffering from leukemia. I was too afraid to tell you about my condition, because I didn’t want you to be sad, and to worry about me. The doctor said that I only had a year, but with you as my inspiration, I strived to live, so that making sure to wake up to see tomorrow, to see your smile.

I figured that it was better for you to move on rather than stay by my side as I fade, so tried to give you reasons to leave me, I can see that you really do love me so much, but I guess I can’t forgive myself if I was to blame for your sadness. I want to ask forgiveness, I broke your heart; I did it so that you would be angry with me, forget me, and move on. I really hope I did the right thing. I really did love you with all my heart. 


We made a promise that if ever anything bad happens to anyone of us, we would accept it and move on. I hope you keep your promise, because by the time you read this, I might have already lost the battle against leukemia. I just want to make sure that you receive the last present I failed to give you. A diamond ring, I really wished to ask you to marry me, but I guess I will never have the chance.

I hope you could find in you heart to forgive me.

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are and who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be: your neighbor, child, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger - who, when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you and at the time they seem painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential strength, will power, or heart.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck.

Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity, all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests, whether they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere, safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life and the successes and downfalls you experience create who you are, and even the bad experiences can be learned from, In fact, they are probably the poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart...

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again...

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen, let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high...

Hold your head up because you have every right too.

Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself... for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.

Create your own life and then go out and live in it!

Ateneo – La Salle Game

It’s the main game! A big one folks. ‘Cause it’s the Ateneo Blue Eagles against to their archrivals – the De La Salle Green Archers. Every time that these squads battle, whatever the game is, expect to be jam-packed.

Blue vs. Green is one of the most popular rivalries in inter-collegiate games, especially when it comes to basketball. The players, coaches, and even the fan and supporters are very much intense! But mind you, it makes a great game. You know, no one is doesn’t want to give up. Each of them wants their team to prevail.

When it comes to Ateneo – La Salle game, - numbers don’t matter, but it’s the school that they represent. They don’t want to be the underdog by their rivals. They’ll gonna do their best, their all, everything just to succeed.

But at the end of the day, they’re all friends. Their rivalry is really a big factor why a lot of people usually watch this game. Fan, supporters and viewers are very delighted to see these squads clash each others.
